WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The northbound lanes of North 3rd Street are closed as construction at the MedNorth Health Center begins, according to the City of Wilmington.

The area will be closed off from Brunswick Street to Davis Street starting now until 4 p.m. Authorities have stated that this segment might face another closure on May 8 should the work remain unfinished by then.

The city states that a detour will reroute northbound traffic to make a right turn onto Hanover Street followed by a left turn onto North 4th Street.

City officials stated that “Hanover Street will become a one-way route to enhance traffic movement, and a flagger will manage the junction where Hanover intersects with Fourth Streets. The diversion will head north along Fourth Street before taking a left onto Davis Street to return to North Third Street.”

The southbound traffic remains unaffected. According to city officials, anticipate possible delays.
