The Jeep brand presents the newest version of its popular Compass, a C-segment SUV that has attracted more than 2.5 million buyers globally since launching in 2006. This updated Compass aims to reset standards within one of the most fiercely contested segments of the automotive industry, which makes up nearly a fourth of all sales in Europe.
Designed to capture the essence of the Jeep brand’s signature capabilities, toughness, and unmistakable style, the latest Compass combines adaptability with cutting-edge tech features. As the company’s most widely distributed vehicle internationally, production and sales kick off in Europe and then spread across various regions worldwide.
The production continues to thrive in the center of Italy at the Melfi facility, underscoring Jeep’s dedication to localized European manufacturing. Known for its advanced automation and environmentally conscious practices, the Melfi plant holds a key position in Stellantis’ strategy towards electric vehicle development.
Jeep’s bold aspirations are evident in their robust growth pattern. During 2024, they managed to sell approximately 132,000 vehicles throughout Europe, largely driven by the popularity of the Avanger model, responsible for around 80,000 unit sales. This upward momentum signifies an enhanced market position for Jeep outside of Italy, particularly within European borders; sales increased significantly elsewhere in Europe during 2024—by roughly ten percentage points—with significant contributions from countries like the UK, whose sales tripled compared to previous year levels, alongside substantial increases seen in major economies including France and the Netherlands, each doubling down on their figures relative to those recorded in 2023. Early indications suggest these favorable trends persist into early 2025, maintaining a steady one percent market share.
Fabio Catone, who leads the Jeep Brand across Expanded Europe, stated: “The all-new Jeep Compass confidently embodies the brand’s progressive mindset, showcasing our focus on satisfying current consumer expectations along with foreseeing future possibilities. As an embodiment of Jeep toughness and capability, this car offers cutting-edge features while upholding our pledge to electric mobility and environmental responsibility. Tailored for off-road escapades yet equally suited for daily driving, the new Jeep Compass firmly symbolizes our unyielding drive towards advancement and adaptability, engineered to cater to the varied requirements of global clientele.”
Style, innovation, and performance—the Jeep approach
The new Jeep Compass stands as a bold and unmistakable statement, showcasing a design that captures the essence of the Jeep brand’s legendary heritage while embracing modern innovation. Built upon the cutting-edge Stellantis STLA Medium platform, specifically tailored to support electrification in the C and D segments. This forward-thinking platform guarantees an exceptional range, rapid charging capabilities, optimal efficiency, and high performance without compromising on affordability.
Developed by the dedicated engineering teams at Jeep in Turin and the United States, with contributions from global experts, the latest Compass excels in balancing robust off-road performance with smooth everyday use. Whether you’re heading into nature or maneuvering through city streets, this car provides exceptional adaptability, cutting-edge tech features, and enhanced security.
The design was carefully created to offer superior performance along with a distinctive style. In line with the Jeep brand’s tradition, elements like the recognizable seven-slot grille, trapezoidal wheel wells, and robust cladding have been seamlessly incorporated to pay homage to the brand’s history while maintaining its capability and distinct appearance. The updated Jeep Compass also prioritizes practicality and security; the inclusion of an anti-scratch modular Jeep shield and strengthened bumpers enhances defense against damages in various settings—be they city streets or rough terrains. Furthermore, the car’s radar system has been strategically relocated to prevent harm during close maneuvers or collisions with barriers.
The new Compass model comes in six hues tied to distinct natural settings, designed to stir up feelings and mental pictures connected to various parts of our world. The introductory shade will be “Hawaii,” an intense vibrant green reminiscent of the lush tropical archipelago’s diversity—the spectrum spans from “Pacific” blue, representing the expansive ocean, to “Antarctica” white, signifying icy southern regions; then there’s “Amazonia,” a brownish-green hue capturing the essence of the Amazon jungle; followed by “Yosemite,” which mirrors the monumental cliffs and geological features within this renowned national park, depicted as grey; finally, “Vulcano,” black, conjures thoughts of Sicily’s volcanic island counterpart.
The capabilities of the updated Compass model extend throughout its lineup, even reaching the front-wheel-drive variant, ensuring complete functionality. Boasting a ground clearance of up to 200mm, an approach angle of 20 degrees, a breakover angle of 15 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees, this new Compass can effortlessly navigate rugged landscapes. Furthermore, its maximum wading depth of 470mm underscores its prowess in tackling demanding conditions. Selec-Terrain technology comes as a standard feature on every edition to assist drivers through their toughest situations, complementing the comprehensive 360-degree protection found on the Avenger.
New suspension tuning with dedicated springs, dampers and antiroll bar are granting a good compromise between handling and comfort. And the all-wheel-drive versions will be even more capable thanks to special extra-functional design that ensures 27 degrees of approach angle, 16 degrees of breakover, 31 degrees of departure angle, and improved ground clearance and water fording. Hill descent control will be standard on the all-wheel drive versions.
In addition to its impressive off-road capabilities, the Compass boasts enhanced interior space and notable adaptability, despite being one of the smallest models built using the STLA Medium Platform at just 4.55 meters long overall. This model now includes an extra 55 millimeters of legroom, features a spacious 34-liter storage area upfront, and has expanded trunk volume by 45 liters, totaling up to 550 liters. All variants come equipped with a versatile 40/20/40 rear seating arrangement, offering maximum adjustability—equally suitable for accommodating occupants or transporting goods.
In the world of technology, the latest version of Compass presents itself as a comprehensive package offering great value. This model comes equipped with a cutting-edge infotainment system featuring both a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 16-inch touchscreen for enhanced navigation and entertainment. Furthermore, advanced connectivity ensures continuous updates through OTA capabilities across its operational life span. Additionally, Level 2 autonomy aids drivers during long journeys or navigating busy city streets.
All these features come as standard equipment on every variant within the range. Enhancements such as a heads-up display, semi-autonomous lane-changing assistance, adaptive matrix LED lighting, and smartphone integration further elevate the user experience. These innovative additions set the Compass apart from competitors, incorporating luxury-grade technologies typically found exclusively in higher-end models.
A powertrain solution for each requirement
Offering a comprehensive selection of powertrains that span across the market segment, the updated Compass aims to broaden the array of choices provided by Jeep for their clientele. This includes options such as a 145 HP mild-hybrid setup powered by a 48-volt system, a 195 HP plug-in hybrid variant, along with three battery-electric variants boasting outputs ranging between 213 hp for the front-wheel-drive model up to an astounding 375 hp for the all-wheel-drive configuration.
To reach these remarkable 375 horsepower figures specifically within the all-wheel-drive option, Jeep implemented a novel high-performance rear electric motor designed uniquely for this particular platform. This addition brings about an extra 49 kW of peak power alongside delivering up to 232 Nm of torque. When paired with a robust 14:1 gear reduction ratio at the back axle, it equates to approximately 3100 Nm delivered right to the ground via the wheel hubs. Consequently, this arrangement ensures optimal grip during demanding driving conditions—such as climbing gradients upwards of 20 percent—even when experiencing minimal traction on the leading set of wheels.
Moreover, charging capabilities have reached unprecedented levels thanks to support for ultra-fast DC fast-charging technology capable of replenishing the batteries from 20% to 80% charge state inside just half an hour, complemented by an onboard AC charger rated up to 22 kW capacity. Additionally, the extended cruising ranges offered among the pure EV models now stretch out towards 650 kilometers per single top-up session—a significant selling point contributing greatly toward making the refreshed Jeep Compass exceptionally competitive amidst today’s rapidly advancing landscape centered around electrification technologies—all whilst maintaining both user-friendly dimensions and ample interior space characteristic of vehicles belonging to its class.
In terms of enhancing overall air resistance coefficients through various aerodynamically optimized features incorporated throughout different parts of the car bodywork—including but not limited to active grille shutters seamlessly blended into the main frontal fascia area together with strategically placed airflow channels positioned over each corner assembly plus sharp trailing edge designs combined with completely smooth underside floor sections—the coefficient drag figure was successfully reduced by roughly ten percentage points down below the threshold level marking 0.3—an achievement which undoubtedly plays pivotal roles in boosting energy consumption efficiencies amongst others benefits derived thereof.
First edition
Presenting the inaugural edition of the all-new Jeep Compass—a distinctive, exclusive offering crafted for a striking market launch.
