Italy’s Rail Services Ground to a Halt: Eight-Hour Strike Underway

Posted on

ROME, May 6 – Train operations throughout Italy were disrupted on Tuesday due to an eight-hour strike initiated by the Filt Cgil, Fit-Cisl, and Uiltransperti labor unions. The action was taken as a response to the lack of progress toward renewing the industry’s collective bargaining agreement. Passengers experienced service interruptions including delayed trains and canceled trips. For instance, at Naples’ principal railway hub, multiple Frecciarossa high-speed trains bound for Milan faced cancellations alongside certain local routes.
