Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its newest limited edition SUV, the GLC43 Edition R, highlighting improved performance features and a refined look. This particular model boasts a reduced cost by excluding certain high-end amenities found in the regular AMG GLC43.
Reduced Cost Without Compromising Key Functionality
Priced approximately $10,000 lower than the standard AMG GLC43, the Edition R variant omits certain premium amenities. This includes skipping the adaptive digital headlamps, the AMG performance steering wheel upholstered in Nappa leather, augmented reality navigation, as well as the black Nappa leather cabin trim.
The Edition R keeps the powerplant from the standard GLC43. Beneath the bonnet, it features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas turbo motor equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Together, they generate an impressive output of 421 horsepower along with 51 kilogram-meters of torque.
Agile Handling Combined with Sports SUV Performance
The Edition R boasts remarkable acceleration capabilities, capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4.8 to 4.9 seconds—a strong showing for a sporty SUV. Furthermore, this model comes equipped with a 2.5-degree rear-wheel steering mechanism designed to improve maneuverability and handling dynamics.
Improved Athletic Attributes Designed Specifically for Racetrack Performance
In comparison to the standard AMG GLC43, the Edition R leans more heavily into enthusiastic driving dynamics. This model comes equipped as standard with the AMG Dynamic+ package, featuring Race mode along with performance-optimized engine mounts. The Race mode enhances throttle sensitivity and employs assertive gearshifts, going beyond what the conventional Sport and Sport+ settings offer—especially advantageous for circuit use.
The exterior upgrades highlight its athletic charm. The Edition R comes with bigger 21-inch dark wheels and includes red brake calipers as a standard feature. Additionally, the Night Package 2 accentuates the car’s aggressive, performance-oriented design.
UniqueInterior Design with Functionally Focused Elements
The AMG GLC43 Edition R inside combines stylish aesthetics with athletic performance features. Its cabin includes striking red seatbelts, an advanced sports seating package from AMG, as well as black Artico leather combined with micro-cuts highlighted by bright red stitches. Complementing this look is a metallic trim on the dash panel that completes the exclusive feel of the cockpit.
Limited Availability Confirmed
Mercedes-AMG stresses that the Edition R is not just an affordable starting point but a truly exclusive model combining high performance with distinctive visual and sensory elements. It’s worth noting that the AMG GLC43 Edition R has been officially announced for specific regions only.
