Jeep has unveiled the new Compass SUV, which will feature multiple hybrid powertrain options.

The Compass can be equipped with a mild-hybrid engine referred to by the company as ‘e-Hybrid,’ delivering 147 horsepower. This option is complemented by a 197 horsepower plug-in hybrid variant. Nonetheless, specifics regarding performance metrics, displacement volume, and electric range have not been disclosed yet.

Additionally, customers can select from three electric variants, featuring a rear-wheel-drive configuration equipped with an electric motor available at either 216 horsepower or 234 horsepower. Furthermore, a four-wheel-drive option known as ‘4xe’ will be offered, which boasts a twin-motor system generating 380 horsepower.

Jeep asserts that the electric version of the Compass may cover up to 403 miles before needing another recharge, and every model will support fast charging at rates of up to 160kW DC. This means they could go from a 20% charge level to an 80% one within half an hour. Nonetheless, details about specific battery sizes or driving distances have yet to be disclosed by the company for each variant.

The external styling aligns with other Jeep models in their range, featuring a seven-slot horizontal front grill, black lower body trim, trapezoidal wheel arches, and an ‘X’ shaped taillight design at the back.

Within, the cabin is highlighted by two sizable displays: a 10.25-inch digital dashboard for the driver and a 16-inch infotainment screen supplemented with actual buttons.

According to Jeep, the cabin offers up to 34 liters of storage space, and the trunk capacity has been boosted by 45 liters compared to its predecessor, totaling 550 liters now.

Orders for the new Compass will open on May 6 for the European market with prices starting at €39,900. Shipments are anticipated to begin in the final quarter of this year.
