On May 5, the speed limit on interstate highways was raised from 75 mph to 80 mph, as reported.

“This bill strikes a reasonable balance by aligning North Dakota’s interstate speed limit with two of our three neighboring states and increasing fines as a deterrent to speeding,” Armstrong said.
When does the modification of the speed limit come into force?
The updated speed limit will come into force on August 1st.
What changes are expected regarding the penalties for speeding violations?
For speeding on highways where the speed limit is 65 mph or higher, the penalty will be either a flat fee of $20 or $5 for every mile per hour above the limit, whichever amount is larger.
On those roads, the fee will be $20 or $3 for every mile per hour above the speed limit, with the higher amount being applied.
An extra penalty of $20 will be imposed for breaking the rule by exceeding the speed limit by 16 miles per hour or more.
