TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Early Tuesday morning, a police chase concluded with a collision involving a stolen car near the 12-points region.

As stated by Lt. Justin Sears from the Terre Haute Police Department, law enforcement tried to stop a car for several infractions; however, the driver chose to flee. This led to a collision with another vehicle but fortunately resulted in no injuries. The fleeing car then proceeded eastward on Maple Avenue at an elevated velocity.

The vehicle being sought exited the road close to North 26th Street and eventually halted following an impact with a tree around North 28th Street. The individuals behind the wheel and beside it were taken to a nearby medical facility due to severe wounds.

Following communication with the car’s owner, the investigators verified that the vehicle had been listed as stolen.

The section of Maple Avenue between North 26th and North 28th Streets is currently shut down due to reconstruction work being carried out by the Indiana State Police following an accident. Officials have advised citizens to steer clear of the region for now.

This is an evolving story. WTWO will offer further developments as additional details come through.
